Maziar (Mazi) Shirakh

Maziar (Mazi) Shirakh is a professional registered mechanical engineer in the State of California. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from California State University in Sacramento (CSUS). In his long career at the California Energy Commission (CEC) he pioneered and led many initiatives which have helped California achieve its energy and environmental goals. He worked with a large team of state policy makers, builders, utilities, equipment manufacturers, environmental activists, and the general public to make California’s newly constructed residential and commercial buildings the most energy efficient in the nation. He also led the effort to bring renewable solar energy and battery storage systems into California building to help with the State’s decarbonization goals. For his efforts, the State of California granted him the “Lifetime Achievement Award” in June of 2020. Maziar retired from public service in December of 2020.
